Designing an Apprenticeship Strategy with edX
Neshe Consulting crafted a strategic vision for Registered Apprenticeship Programs (RAPs) for a global digital education provider.
Q: How does a company adopt apprenticeship to help drive growth?
edX is an online learning platform connecting over 86 million people worldwide to high-quality digital education. Originally founded as a joint venture by Harvard University and MIT, edX delivers certificate and degree programs across industry sectors such as artificial intelligence, robotics, public health, and more.

As a premier digital education provider, edX aimed to expand its reach into new programmatic areas, specifically RAPs. The organization lacked detailed knowledge of RAPs — regulations, implementation, evaluation, and funding — and needed guidance to develop a clear, market-driven apprenticeship strategy.
The Challenge
Create a go-forward strategy for incorporating Registered Apprenticeship Programs into the company’s training & talent development offerings.
The Outcome
Developed a mission-aligned strategic vision for apprenticeship sales, implementation, and funding.
Neshe Consulting conducted an in-depth review of edX’s needs and the broader market to shape a clear apprenticeship strategy. Based on an analysis of the company’s Key Performance Indicators and success metrics, we explored different ways the company could facilitate apprenticeship programs, weighing the pros and cons of each. Special attention was paid to funding opportunities available in edX’s key geographic regions and target occupations.
Through our collaboration, we equipped edX with the subject matter expertise needed to navigate apprenticeships and identified relevant workforce funding sources to support their goals. Most importantly, we guided edX in defining the strategic role apprenticeships should play within their broader mission. As a result, edX now has the critical infrastructure and knowledge necessary to implement these impactful programs.
