Expanding Apprenticeships with American Apprenticeships Work
Neshe Consulting scaled an apprenticeship company’s innovative workforce programs in the Clean Energy sector.
Q: How do you effectively scale apprenticeship programs?
American Apprenticeships Work (AAW) is a fast-growing, modern apprenticeship company that supports employers in establishing innovative workforce programs. AAW provides “plug & play” services for Human Resource and Learning & Development teams, enabling companies to quickly fill in-demand roles which require digital, data, marketing and project management skills.

To meet the needs of employers in the Clean Energy sector, AAW developed a robust apprenticeship program for industry-specific roles. After successfully implementing this solution with clients across the country, they targeted Massachusetts as a critical state for further expansion. However, their ability to penetrate this market was limited by an absence of consistent funding, few regional connections, and a lack of local knowledge and context.
The Challenge
Launch Clean Energy apprenticeships in a new state and adapt to local market needs & conditions.
The Outcome
Established a broad network of local support from employers, trade organizations, and workforce boards to ensure the apprenticeship’s success.
Neshe Consulting leveraged its subject matter expertise and strong connections in the apprenticeship ecosystem to help AAW meet its goals. We first provided logistical, regulatory, and administrative support to ensure AAW could register with the Massachusetts Division of Apprentice Standards. Next, we engaged with key stakeholders, such as regional workforce boards, trade organizations, and nonprofits to strengthen the program’s viability and sustainability. Finally, after significant research and market analysis, we facilitated relationships with local employers interested in implementing apprenticeships.
Consequently, we secured formal agreements from a number of key partners. Workforce boards in Massachusetts’ Boston Metro and Central regions committed to develop an apprenticeship talent pipeline and provide essential wraparound services to participants. Industry groups such as The Alliance for Climate Transition partnered with us to engage their employer network in a robust marketing campaign, including webinars, roundtables, and an in-person Apprenticeship Summit focused on the Clean Energy sector. Most importantly, the National Electrical Contractors Association pledged to pilot our apprenticeship program with their member companies. Through our partnership, AAW laid the groundwork to successfully expand their apprenticeship into a new region.
